Workplace injuries are a major concern in many industries, particularly those that involve manual labor, machinery, or hazardous substances. Occupational health policies are designed to reduce the risks of workplace injuries and protect workers' health and well-being. In Plateau State, industries such as mining, agriculture, and manufacturing are predominant, with workers often facing significant risks due to poor safety practices and a lack of enforcement of health policies. Despite the introduction of national and state-level regulations on occupational health and safety, workplace injuries continue to be a persistent problem. This study will explore the role of occupational health policies in preventing workplace injuries in Plateau State, assessing the effectiveness of these policies and identifying areas where improvements are needed.
In Plateau State, many workers in hazardous industries continue to suffer from preventable injuries due to inadequate implementation and enforcement of occupational health policies. Many workplaces lack the necessary safety measures, training, and protective equipment to ensure workers' safety. This gap in occupational health policies and their enforcement not only leads to injuries but also affects productivity and workers' quality of life. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of existing occupational health policies in preventing injuries and propose measures to enhance safety standards for workers in Plateau State.
This study will focus on the mining, agricultural, and manufacturing industries in Plateau State. Limitations include the potential for underreporting of injuries and the difficulty of measuring the effectiveness of policies in the absence of consistent monitoring systems.
